Episode 664 Steve Raye interviews David Othenin-Girard in this episode of Get US Market Ready With Italian Wine People on the Italian Wine Podcast.
About today’s guest:
David Othenin-Girard has been a buyer for 13 years at K&L Wines, one of America’s leading specialty retail shops with three stores in California. He has curated a unique range of products that are not commonly found or carried by other retailers. In addition he writes the K&L Spirits Journal ( https://spiritsjournal.klwines.com/), one of the best-read wine newsletters in America with circulation to over 90,000 K&L customers. David has been an “influencer” long before the concept became popular. The difference being his knowledge of and access to an incredibly wide range of brands and a curiosity that drives him to seek out the new, innovative, and best of the “long tail” of spirit and wine brands to make them available to U.S. customers.
He has an eclectic and opinionated (in a good way) point of view, something that both brick and mortar and e-comm stores have found holds immense appeal. In his interview with Steve he shares some valuable insights into how the U.S. market is evolving.
